“Here Is Love” - Aileen Gilchrist – A Music Video

“Here Is Love, Vast as the Ocean.” became known as the love song of the Welsh Revival and was used mightily by God during that time. Today, contemporary Christian artists have rediscovered it. The original lyrics stand as one of the most powerful hymns ever penned (gospelproject.com) It was written by William Rees, 1802-1883. The only education William Rees ever had was at a Welsh village school during the winter months, and he began to work on the farm and as a shepherd at an early age. However, he proceeded to educate himself, and under the direction of Robert ap Dafydd of Cilfach Lwyd , an old bachelor who lived in a near-by farm, he learned the rules of Welsh prosody.(Hymnary.org) Known as a preacher and lecturer, poet, novelist, astronomer and political thinker, Rees pastored in Liverpool for over 30 years. (hymntime.com) I had never heard of this hymn until I heard Aileen Gilchrist sing it and it grows more precious as time goes by. Thank you Aileen. The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want; He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me The quiet waters by. 2. My soul He doth restore again And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, E'en for His own name's sake. 3. Yea, tho' I walk in death's dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For Thou art with me, and Thy rod And staff me comfort still. 4. My table Thou hast furnished In presence of my foes; My head Thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows. 5. Goodness and mercy, all my life, Shall surely follow me; And in God's house forevermore My dwelling place shall be.

A lovely version of the world's most well known hymn. Having a distinct Scottish flavour, it is recorded by Aileen Gilchrist and used with permission. Aileen's website is https://www.aileengilchrist.com/ Thank you for watching, Dawn Amazing Grace Lyrics John Newton (1725-1807) Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; 'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home. When we've been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun. We've no less days to sing God's praise Than when we've first begun.

“Be Thou My Vision” - Aileen Gilchrist – A Music Video

Did you ever wonder where one of the world's most popular hymns came from? The words were written around the 8th century, or maybe even earlier, in Ireland, but they weren't translated into English until 1905 by Mary Bryne. In 1912 the words were put into verse form by Eleanor Hull and in 1919 they were set to a traditional Irish tune called Slane. And we have been singing it ever since. Lyrics below. Thou my best Thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word; I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord; Thou my great Father, I Thy true son; Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one. Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight; Be Thou my Armour, and be Thou my Might; Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower: Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power. Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise, Thou mine Inheritance, now and always: Thou and Thou only, first in my heart, High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art. High King of Heaven, my victory won, May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
